Welcome to Hengil
Hengil Welsh Ponies, Cobs and Partbreds is situated in the small village of Llanfyrnach, North Pembrokeshire, central to the towns of Carmarthen, Cardigan, Haverfordwest and Newcastle Emlyn, and a little over an hours drive away from Swansea.
Hengil is named after Sarah's grandfather's (Ruskin Davies) farm, Hengil Fach, in Peniel, Carmarthenshire, who bred Welsh Cob x Thoroughbreds for many years, and introduced Sarah to the world of breeding and showing at a young age, and she has continued to breed Welsh Cobs under the prefix of Hengil. A foundation Section D brood mare was purchased, Merwydd Bess (x. Horeb Euros), and Section A's were later introduced with the purchase of a Coed-Coch bred mare, Henllan Jem.
After leaving school, Sarah went to work at a racing yard with thoroughbreds, leading to the introduction of three thoroughbred brood mares to Hengil in 2007.
We aim to breed and show quality stock, with our Welsh Mountains being shown with success to County level, with our first homebred Welsh Mountain foal gaining a seventh place in the 2009 Royal Welsh Show! :)
Thanks for looking at our website, we hope you enjoy
